Do I need prior dance experience?

Not at all. We have classes and programs for all levels, including complete beginners!

What if I'm worried about my age, body type, or dance experience?

Feeling nervous is totally normal - most of our students felt the same before their first class. Our studio welcomes all ages, body types, flexibility levels, and dance backgrounds, including complete beginners. You don't need to look a certain way or have experience to start.

What should I wear and do I need heels?

Wear comfortable, stretchable clothing - leggings, shorts, bodysuits, or fitted tops all work. For heels classes, we recommend dance heels with ankle support, but beginners are welcome to start in socks. Avoid street heels with rubber soles or heavy platforms. Knee pads are recommended for classes with floorwork.

How do I know which level is right for me?

If you've never danced before, start with beginner. With 6+ months of experience, you may be ready for beginner/intermediate depending on your background and confidence. Message us on Instagram if you need help choosing.

What is the difference between open classes and intensives/courses?

Open classes are single drop-ins - great for trying different teachers, styles, or fitting a class into your week. Intensives are structured multi-week programs focused on deeper technical growth, choreography, and performance development through consistent practice.

Do classes include filming?

Some classes, intensives, and workshops include professional filming - we always mention this in advance. Participation is never required. Just message us if you'd prefer not to be filmed and we'll respect that fully.

Can I join in the middle of a course or intensive or attend only one class?

Usually no - courses and intensives are structured so each class builds on the last. Jumping in mid-program can feel uncomfortable both technically and artistically.

What is the difference between a course and an intensive?

Courses are 3-week programs with 1.5-hour classes twice a week, split between technique and choreography, plus a professional filming day (12 hours of training and performance experience total). Intensives are 3-week programs with 2-hour classes once a week, more focused on choreography and performance, also ending with a filming day (9 hours of training and performance experience total).

Do you host guest teachers and workshops?

Yes. Vell Studio regularly hosts workshops and masterclasses with choreographers and artists from the international dance industry.

Is parking available?

Street parking is available around the studio (free parking after 6 PM).

  • I started my heels journey with Vell 1.5 years ago and I haven’t stopped dancing since 🤍 She’s built the most supportive community and every class leaves you feeling more confident than when you walked in. Her energy, humor and genuine spirit make everyone feel welcome and the space she’s created is so empowering.
